Trading Cards

Big Huge Labs has an incredible number of web tools to use with images from the web.

One of my favorites is the ability to quickly and easily create virtual Trading Cards.  Students can find the url of any image on the web (preferably, of course, one with a Creative Commons license) and, along with a text description, turn it into a baseball-like trading card.  Here’s an example of one I created in 30 seconds of Abraham Lincoln.

Students can create the card, email it to a teacher, and then post the url on a blog or website.

There’s a fair amount of space to write text, so students can use the cards to make mini-reports — about English, Science, or Social Studies subjects.

I’ve placed the link on my Examples of Student Work page under Student Trading Cards
