Our high school has definitely met 25 of the 26 criteria needed for us to exit what is called “Fourth Year Program Improvement Status.”  It appears (though we are presently appealing) that the one we may have missed was having enough English Language Learners score “proficient” in the English portion of the state tests.

The San Francisco Chronicle today has an excellent opinion piece by Linda Hammond-Darling titled Changing The Way We Think About Learning critiquing our testing system.  She compares it with how other countries measure student learning.
