The Sacramento Bee ran an editorial today about the “achievement gap” — the differences in student achievement between white and nonwhite students.

I think the second half of this short editorial, which includes an analysis of income data that I’ve never heard before, along with some suggested solutions, is excellent.

I don’t think the first half of it, except for a well-aimed critique of an inappropriate comment by California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell, is particularly helpful or well-connected to the second part.
