“I’m Not Sure, But I Think That…”

I know that California Teacher Guy isn’t a finalist for the “Most Influential Post” in the Edublogs Awards, but I wanted to highlight two of his excellent posts on the subject of thinking.

In these two posts, he shares about how he “outlawed” the phrase “I don’t know” in his class and began insisting that, instead, students say “I’m not sure, but I think that….”

I thought that was a brilliant idea when I first heard about it in the fall, and it’s worked wonderfully in both my mainstream and ELL classes.  And from what I’ve seen around the blogosphere, a lot of other teachers have started doing the same thing.

It’s definitely worth reading his two posts…
