Empressr Slideshows

Posted at 12:02 am under web 2.0

Today is certainly the day for useful Web 2.0 applications for the classroom.

TechCrunch announced that Empressr, an online slideshow web application, has just unveiled a vastly improved version of itself.  It clearly will be very friendly to English Language Learners.

You can read the TechCrunch blog post to get details.

I’ve placed the link on my Examples of Student Work page under Student Slideshows.  That’s the same place, by the way, I’ve put the link to Show Beyond.

My students and I have tried a number of online slideshow apps. By far, the one they gravitate towards most is Empressr. Prezi is 2nd.

For the past few months I’ve given them the opportunity to present via the app of their choice. About 80% of the time they’ve run with Empressr.

Other apps present more bells & whistles. In fact, many of the other apps have a more polished look to them.

Why Empressr? The clincher is the ability to simply upload music and video. It’s that important to them.
