When I originally posted about Wordle and Tagcrowd, two free applications that create graphic representations of the frequency of different word us in a document or website, I wrote that it would be an intriguing tool to use to analyze political speeches.

Well, thanks to The English Blog, I just learned that The New York Times did just that. They call it The Words They Used.

Though it’s unclear exactly what technology they used to do the analysis, they developed word clouds for individual speakers at the Democratic and Republican Conventions, as well as analyzing the frequency of all words spoken at each one. It’s pretty interesting.
