Slate Magazine has just published what I think is an exceptionally insightful critique of KIPP Schools called The Educational Experiment We Really Need: What the Knowledge Is Power Program has yet to prove.

I learned about the article from The Week In Education, which also highlighted a quote from the article:

“Until KIPP tries to succeed within an entire, single community, it is, for all its remarkable rise and deserved praise, just another model program that has yet to prove it can succeed with all—or even most—disadvantaged children.”

The article, by Sara Mosle, is definitely not a “hit piece,” and is worth a look.
