This is my week for interviews!
If you’re interested, here is an interview with me on using music with English Language Learners.
Larry–Have you had yourself cloned? Have you found extra hours in the day? Have you found a way to thrive without sleep? How do you do everything you do?
Hi Larry – Take this article one step further and ask fellow teachers which songs do they use to teach ESL. Please make a suggestion list. I think you will be surprised on the variety. For example, at University level, I use Hotel California in Thailand. Number one reason is it has been around for 20 years so my kids Mom & Dad have heard the song too. My students tell their parents that we analyzed this song in class. They get excited about it and talk more about it (in English and Thai). I also find it interesting that my students come up with many different meanings of the song at the end of class as it could relate to their culture. Examples: ghost hotel, love triangle, broken heart, nightmare, man in coma and finally addiction of some form. I always look forward to teaching expressions, idioms and inferences (also descriptive story telling) by using Hotel California by the Eagles. Yes, I teach English with my EFL /ESL. The lower level university students I used I’m Yours by Jason Mzars. Great blog Larry and thank you for all you do.
