“Birth Year Inflation” is a neat interactive from BillShrink that lets you type in the year of your birth (or any year), see what a number of items cost then, and compares it to their cost now.
Though they don’t look as slick as BillShrink’s, two other somewhat similar sites are The Inflation Calculator and the CPI Inflation Calculator from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Cool site! Everything is about 60-70% more expensive than it was in 1982, when I was born. But the house has gone up more than 200%. That explains a few things!
