Earlier this week, the National Research Council released a very important report detailing how the rewards and punishments offered by No Child Left Behind are not effective in helping schools, teachers or students. I’ll be writing a more in-depth analysis of the report, as I’m sure will others, and thought I’d get a start at compiling a useful list of related resources.

First off, of course, the most important resource is the report itself:

Here are my choices for The Best Posts/Articles On National Research Council Finding That Carrots & Sticks Don’t Work:

Panel Finds Few Learning Gains From Testing Movement comes from Ed Week.

National Testing Push Yielded Few Learning Advances is from The Huffington Post.

New National Research Council Report Finds That Incentives & Punishments Not Successful In Helping Schools & Their Students is my initial post on the report.

Report: Test-based incentives don’t produce real student achievement is by Valerie Strauss at The Washington Post.

On Treating Students & Educators ‘Like Rats in a Maze’ is by Diane Ravitch.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome!
