Matthew Di Carlo from The Shanker Blog tweeted a short video of a debated on education between Albert Shanker, then president of the American Federation of Teachers and Milton Friedman, the economist who never met a question he couldn’t answer with “let the market and competition fix it.” There were a few others involved, too. I believe it occurred sometime in the 1980’s.

I thought it was pretty interesting, and have embedded their debate. I haven’t included the film Friedman made and showed prior to their discussion — if you want to subject yourself to it, you can easily find it on YouTube.
