The Best TV/Movie Clips On The First Day Of School — Help Me Find More

NOTE: Garnet and Jen left links to numerous other clips in the comments section. Check them out!

Here’s another different kind of “The Best…” list.

I thought a collection of TV/movie clips showing the first day of school might be useful for teacher trainings, and was pleased to see that Michelle Henry, who has one of the best ESL/EFL websites in the world, had already started collecting them.

So, instead of showing them here, I’d suggest you check out what she has at her Back To School Videos. They include clips from The Dead Poets Society, Finding Nemo, and Sesame Street.

And please contribute other suggestions in the comments! I’ll add them here, and I suspect Michelle might be interested in adding to her collection, too.

I’m adding this post to The Best Resources For Planning The First Day Of School.

  2. I love the Dead Poet’s Society clip. I use that with one class and we create a life list / bucket list that we refer back to regularly. Thanks for sharing !

  3. Hey Larry. The Dead Poets clip and the Cosby clip are blocked now… apparently Disney doesn’t like to share without making a profit.

But the rest are awesome! Thanks!

I was looking for something a little more inspirational for minority students, especially seniors… maybe a TED talk? Any ideas?

    See you tomorrow!
