“Five of history’s most important places”

Five of history’s most important places is a pretty interesting article at the BBC’s website, and it offers a nice idea for a lesson. In the article, an historian makes his case for what he believes are the five most important places in world history.

Why not ask students to make their own choices — and they have to provide evidence to back up their claims, of course.

It’s similar to a lesson I’ve done with U.S. History students when I have them choose who they believe are the five most important Americans in our history. In that case, they first review a list prepared by the Discovery Channel.
