Los Angeles Teacher’s Union & District Make Deal On Teacher Evaluation

The teacher’s union and school district in Los Angeles have reached an agreement on teacher evaluation that excludes the use of Value Added Measurements and also supposedly prevents the Los Angeles Times from gaining access to individual teacher data.

John Fensterwald at Ed Source, as usual, as one of the most complete reviews of the agreement.

You can also read the LA Times report.

I’d love to hear what others, especially those readers who teach in LA, think of the deal….

  1. I’m in NYC awaiting news of our own new eval system (which WILL include VAM ratings) Next to us, the LA deal sounds pretty good.
