Fareed Zakaria has written one of the best pieces on gun control that I’ve seen. It’s titled The solution to gun violence is clear and appeared in The Washington Post. I’m adding it to A Collection Of Resources On The Sandy Hook Shooting, where you can also find other good resources on the same topic.

Thanks for sharing – this is the first I’ve come across this piece. I’ve been reading a lot of articles lately on both sides of this debate, and I have to say Zakaria’s is one of the weaker arguments I’ve read. For one thing, he does not actually propose any policy solutions; he just points at comparative international data, without getting into any analysis of why various policies have worked or not worked. If you want to say guns are the problem, fine, but what is the solution? He seems to be implying that not having any guns is the solution, but we have 300 million guns in this country, and he does not make any proposals about how we might do something to change that.
