Rhetoric & “Revolution”

This is probably more of an “inside baseball” related post for people who regularly read education policy blogs, but a bit of a controversy has developed around Diane Ravitch’s attack on Parent Revolution’s Ben Austin (sponsor of the infamous parent trigger), with Rick Hess’ rather over-heated response, “Dante” Ravitch’s Abhorrent Attack on Ben Austin.

If you’re interested in my perspective on the use of strong rhetoric, which comes out of my nineteen year career as a community organizer (prior to becoming a teacher ten years ago), you might find my response to a similar “dust-up” last year in education policy circles interesting. My post is titled It’s Not About Who’s “Evil” — It’s About Who’s Willing To Make A Deal, and was later partially reprinted in The Washington Post.
