The Best Video Clips On Goal-Setting — Help Me Find More

I have a good lesson on goal-setting in my book, Helping Students Motivate Themselves, and I’m beginning to organize another one. As part of that process, I’ve begun to collect video clips on goal-setting, and I’m hoping readers will help me out.

This list is a companion one to The Best Posts On Students Setting Goals.

Here’s an initial list. What I’d really like are sever very short video clips from popular movies and television shows. There are plenty of nauseating “self-help” goal-setting videos out there that would be fairly useless in a high school classroom.

Here’s what I’ve found so far — I hope you can suggest others:

Here’s the famous basketball scene from The Pursuit Of Happyness:

Next, The Dog Strikes Back: 2012 Volkswagen Super Bowl Commercial:

The first three minutes of this Lou Holtz clip (thanks to Vicki Davis):

This next one is okay, though I don’t really know most of the people quoted in it:

Here’s one from astronaut Chris Hadfield:

“I shall either find a way or make one” has been attributed to Hannibal, though he probably didn’t say it.

This goat seems to exemplify that expression — no matter who said it:

Here’s a suggestion from Antonio:

    3:15 – 6:23, particularly
    I don’t know the movie, though : (

  2. We used this last year with our 9th graders. It puts together a variety of Will Smith’s clips.

We also used this one before CST’s last year, mainly so I could yell “don’t quit” randomly 🙂

  3. Hi Larry! There are wonderful clips of all sorts at from popular movies tagged by category and theme! They are also not on youtube which is a benefit to me since my district does not allow it.

  4. Yoda’s “Do or do not… there is no try” scene from The Empire Strikes Back.

(The above is not the entire scene… the ending where Luke says “I don’t believe it” and Yoda adds…”That is why you fail” is priceless. I love using this clip in class, but I use it from the DVD itself.)

  5. kid president pep talk and kid president true story

  6. unbroken olympics featurette

  7. I just stumbled upon There are a ton of inspirational videos sorted by themes; some are better than others.
