Last year I wrote about a pilot program in Tennessee, praised by Arne Duncan, using portfolios developed by arts teachers as part of their evaluation process (see Arne Duncan Supports Using Student Portfolios To Evaluate Teachers?).

, Education Week published an extensive, and laudatory, story about its expansion and future expansion to other non-tested subjects in that state and in others (see Classroom Portfolios Used as Alternative Teacher-Evaluation Measure).

Admittedly, I don’t know all the ins-and-outs of Tennessee’s program but, still, my question a year ago my question today is: Why not use peer-reviewed portfolios in ALL subjects?
