Every year, I revise my list of top recommendations of people/organizations to follow. There are obviously many more worthy people on Twitter than are on this list — I follow over 2,000 of them!

But these are the people on Twitter whose tweets I never (or hardly never) miss — I learn an exceptional amount from them, I have high respect for their political judgment, they share regularly (thought not too much, like I do 🙂 ), and I find their tone generally thoughtful. Again, that doesn’t mean the other people I follow don’t have many of these qualities — they do. I’m just sharing this in an attempt to introduce a few key names to readers who might not be familiar with them.

Feel free to add your suggestions to the comments section. If I get a sizable number of additional recommendations, I’ll publish a separate list with suggested follows from readers. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to be very intentional about exploring people on Twitter who I don’t ordinarily follow, so I suspect that I’ll have a lot of new names on next year’s list (until that time, though, I’ll continue to add to this one).
