Having English Language Learners imagine what animals or figures in photos/paintings are thinking is always an engaging writing or speaking lesson to use in class (see The Best Resources For Using “If This Animal Or Image Could Talk” Lesson Idea In Class).

Now Seth Rogen has opened a new dimension of this idea with a public relations prank he pulled for his new wildly popular, completely classroom inappropriate, and surprisingly critically acclaimed movie about talking food and, yes, “faith and theology.”

He placed animatronic food items in a grocery store that he was able to view and control remotely. Even though all classroom inappropriate words are beeped out of this video, I wouldn’t show it to students (it is funny, though). However, watching it did give me the idea that having students give voice to food – whether in a store or at home – could be another aspect of this kind of lesson.
