As the quote says, the source of that number is Pew. Children of unauthorized immigrants represent rising share of K-12 students from The Pew Research Center also points out that:

About 3.9 million kindergarten through 12th-grade students in U.S. public and private schools in 2014 – or 7.3% of the total – were children of unauthorized immigrants.

With these numbers, the heightened anxiety because of President Trump’s immigration policies can obviously create classroom challenges.
