During this month, I’ll be taking a break now-and-then from blogging to both take some R & R and to finish-up some more extended writing projects.

During this short break, I’ll be re-posting some of my favorite posts of 2018.

At the faculty meeting today, our principal, Jim Peterson, shared three simple phrases/instructions that teachers can use to maximize student engagement. He gave me permission to publish this image of him and the phrases (along with combinations of the three).  The “write a minimum…” can refer to sentences or words.

They support an instructional concept that he calls TAPN, which he wrote about at my Education Week Teacher column.
