“PUBLIC CHARGE” RULE TOOK EFFECT TODAY – HERE’S WHAT OUR STUDENTS & THEIR FAMILIES NEED TO KNOW

The Trump Administration is planning to implement rules that would negatively affect the chances of immigrants gaining permanent residency status or visa extensions if they use public benefits that they are legally entitled to, such as food stamps, Medicaid, and Section 8 housing vouchers.

This can have a huge negative impact on our students and their families when they are faced with the choice of getting needed food, health or housing assistance OR getting permanent residency.
