My end-of-year “Best” list post continue…

You can see all my previous Online Learning Games “Best” lists (and there are a lot since I’ve doing this since 2007) here. Note that they’re also continually revised and updated.

I’ll be adding this list to I’m adding this post to All My 2019 “Best” Lists In One Place!

Here are my picks from the second part of 2019:

There are several free online games designed to teach information literacy, and you can find them at The Best Tools & Lessons For Teaching Information Literacy – Help Me Find More. Now, there’s another one, and it’s called the Bad News Game. I learned about it in CNN story, Researchers have created a ‘vaccine’ for fake news. It’s a game. Researchers claim playing it has been shown to improve people’s ability to spot misinformation. The game site also offers free hand-outs to use with students.

Here are two new additions to The Best Collections Of Online Educational Games:

Fun Stuff for Kids Online is from the Smithsonian.

The National Museums Scotland has a nice collection.

I  learned about Wordwall from ELT Planning, which has a great post about it In fact, I think the post provides a better explanation of Wordwall than the actual site does! There are a ton different templates you can use for creating games, and you can assign them to students (you’re given an url address to share) and get their results. There are also a zillion other games created by teachers that you can search for and use. I’m adding it to:

Letterbox is a free game that follows the common structure of providing several letter and then challenges the player to create words out of them in a short period of time. Letterbox’s twist, though, is that it provides a url address for you to share so that you can play with your friends, which can work quite well in a classroom. I’m adding it to The Best Online Games Students Can Play In Private Virtual “Rooms”

Google has released their third online Carmen Sandiego game. This one is called The Keys To The Kremlin Caper. Here are posts about the previous two games:
