Hi!!! we are from Colombia and English learners. Now we are conducting our thesis on dictogloss focused on listening. It is a relief found those pages where we can find many resources about dictogloss. Sometimes we feel a bit frustrated because nobody at the unversity haven't heard about dictogloss, but we found it so excited and important!... we would like to know your experience using it through listening! best regards from colombia

I came across this post while doing a web search for help with creating infographics. It must have taken you a long time to compile such an extensive resource list. I'll put the information on this article to good use.

Hameray Publishing Group, based in San Diego, offers great resources for ESL students in Pre-K through Middle School. It may be worthwhile to consider adding a link to www.hameraypublishing.com to your list.

Lots of fascinating stuff! I've read information about what happens when someone is playing or singing music. Research has shown that musical training actually improves brain function.

Larry,

A nice, concise piece on the focus for intervention strategically. I've been spending a lot of time meditating and contemplating Saul Alinsky's '2 per cent' suggestion. As an educator, I wish it were a much larger number, but as I think of all the students I've engaged and how many have actually gone to practice fully what they espoused and dreamt of and how many kept in their mind, but never did much else, I find myself challenged to argue otherwise. That's not to say that the 2 per cent rule means excluding others (because who falls in there isn't always obvious at the time), but it does provide a bit of discouragement. Or, perhaps, inspiration to be clever about how one addresses the other 98% more productively. In any respect, I liked your commentary and was glad I found this in my search for Saul Alinsky's "truth".

That lesson makes the biggest impact on my students, too. I'd love to hear how your lesson goes tomorrow...

Of the first three lessons in the first chapter in your latest book, I think that the Brainology has left the greatest impression on my freshmen.

Looking forward to tomorrow's lesson. We're going to try to use Today'sMeet to brainstorm ways that they'll use what they learn in our class in the future.

Thanks for the additional video,
Linnea

What I meant was, teachers should be paid more, because they are worth more than they are paid. Anyone paid well does not need the crutch of a union.
It is the community that needs to take charge.
Unions add costs that do not help education or teachers...only themselves.
They act like they care, but over time, it gets worse, while the costs increase and the childrens' education suffers.
I am sure there are contradictions to this, but there are not many.
Parents do need to be more involved, but I see a trend by government to take over that responsibility. That would be worse than slacking parents, and freedom would die if we allow it.
Our culture is to blame in too many ways, and it is a disease that has been eating at us for a long time now.
I found this, which his may be a bit out of place, but it does show a reason for the symptoms of decay.
