Websites Of The Year
I have begun creating “The Best…” lists, highlighting what I think are the best educational websites each year.
All these sites can also be found on my website, along with thousands of other categorized links. Direct student self-access links to all these resources will soon be available on my website. You can read about this plan here.
I also go back during the year to update each list with new sites I find that I think deserve to be on them. So even though the date on the original post might be several months old, I might very well have added new sites to them much more recently.
(Editor’s Note: On a different matter, subscribers to this blog who use Google Reader and Bloglines to get updated RSS feeds, and who subscribed prior to January, 2008, might have recently stopped receiving new posts. If that has happened to you, you can re-subscribe using this newer Feedburner feed. This issue only relates to people who subscribed prior to January — anyone who has subscribed since then is already using the Feedburner feed and shouldn’t be having any problems.)

[...] Given the large number of ELL/RELL students in our school wouldn’t it be nice to have one internet page to go to with help for all subjects as well as regularly updated resources? How about if that same site was an award winning site (Ford Foundation 2007) and was written by a teacher who works with low-income students. Wait no more. Go to http://larryferlazzo.edublogs.org/websites-of-the-year/ [...]
Larry, I just discovered your site - and I’m very impressed with the amount of great online resources here. Your series of “Best Websites” has helped me discover some great websites. Thanks for your work. I just subscribed to your feed.
Thanks to posting on the Ed Tech listserv, I have come to be a big fan of your work Larry. Not only were you helpful in giving me the information to make an informed choice about my wiki, but you also spend your days working to find the best Web 2.0 materials out there for educators. Admirable and well done!
Josh,
Glad I can help. I also just checked-out your site, and have bookmarked it to go back and look more carefully. It looks great!
Larry
Hi Larry
This looks like a really good resource - looking forward to following the links!
Patricia
PS: I would like to invite you to add your blog information to the new International Edubloggers Directory - http://edubloggerdir.blogspot.com. It would be a great addition!
Patricia,
I’m glad you’re finding it helpful. Thanks for the suggestion — I’ve sent my information to the Directory.

Wow, Larry! What a wealthy source of info for students and teachers everywhere! Thank you for your generosity and your willingness to be of help to all learners on earth
Warmly,
Rita, from Argentina
Great List(s) Larry. These types of resources (and Blogs like yours) should be more publicized to teachers and administrators.
Just curious how you find school filtering to be an issue that needs to be addressed so that we can fully realize the power of these applications for instruction. I know this to be a big issue to overcome locally for us.
I also have my own “list” and resources at: http://csteinberg.com
I’ve seen your list before — it’s an excellent list, plus it’s more visually appealing than the ones I do.
Coincidentally, I’ll be writing a post in the In Practice blog later this week about some recent experiences related to filtering. Here’s an older post I wrote about it, too:
http://inpractice.edublogs.org/2007/11/26/to-filter-or-not-to-filter-is-that-the-question/
This post is more philosophical, but my next one is going to be very practical.
Hi Larry,
I don’t know how you find the time (or the websites!) but I share your lists with my staff each month. Thank you for the work that you do! Have you published a list of sites that help ESL learners learn how to use the computer? I saw one list that focused on Web 2.0 but anything for word processing, spreadsheets, etc?
Thanks so much.
Karisa,
I’m glad you find the resources helpful. Making a Best of list about working with computers is on my To Do list.
I do have a section on my website that you might want to explore:
