I don’t know about you, but I still can’t quite remember how to correctly write bibliographies. If I can’t figure it out, I know my students who are native English students are going to have similar difficulties. And I certainly know that my advanced English Language Learners are going to be in the same boat.
Now, however, there are many online applications who will spell it out for you. All you have to do is input the ISBN number of the book you want to cite.
I’ve placed links to several of them on my Teacher’s page under Bibliography. They include Ottobib, Citation Machine, Bibme, and EasyBib. They all seem pretty much the same to me, but I might be missing something.
Hi,
(Full disclosure: I’m one of the developers of BibMe.org)
There are actually a number of differences in features between the bibliography generators you mention.
Ottobib: Takes an ISBN, AutoFills data and returns formatting in MLA, APA, Chicago, BibTeX, or Wikipedia. Supports only books. Free.
Citation Machine: Requires entering all information for citations by hand. Results are returned in either MLA, APA, Chicago, or Turabian. Free.
BibMe: Allows for searching for items based on ISBN, Author, or Title. AutoFills data for Books, Newspaper Articles, Magazine Articles, Journal Articles, & Movies. Formatting can be downloaded as RTF in MLA, APA, Chicago, or Turabian. Free.
EasyBib: Requires entering all information for citations by hand (unless you pay for the pro version in which AutoFill is supported for books). Bibliography can be built and saved as RTF in MLA style only for free. APA is available for purchase.
