Flashphone is a new web application that allows you to call anywhere for free.  The extraordinary feature about this site is that no download is required — all you need is a mike and Flash installed on your computer. 

I haven’t gotten a chance to try it yet, but TechCrunch says the audio quality is acceptable.

It’s just begun, and the number of calls you can make is limited, but they apparently plan on expanding their free services pretty dramatically.

Having this kind of free browser-based service would make it a lot easier for classes to be able to develop connections to “sister-classrooms” around the world — both for language-learning and for cultural exchange.
