The Tenement Museum in New York City has created an interactive site called We Are Multicolored.  In it, your responses to some simple questions, plus information about symbolism available on the site, provide you with tools to create your own flag — one that represents you.

You can email your creation, along with an explanation of what your flag symbolizes.

I’ve placed the link on my regular Social Studies page — the one typically used just by mainstream students.  However, the site is very accessible to English Language Learners.

I’ve placed it there under the War of 1812 because that’s usually the subject I’m teaching when I have students make their own flags.  The reasons it’s on that page instead of one of the ones specifically for English Language Learners is not worth going into here.  Consider it a quirk of my website that I’m too lazy to fix.
