I’ve posted in the past about the University of Cambridge’s Puzzle site, which has a variety of learning games and puzzles.  Not many of their science ones are accessible to English Language Learners, but some of their Social Studies games are playable.

These include Shields of Honor, where students can why it was  important in battle to have family crests on shields during the Middle Ages; Pirate Challenge and Around The World in 80 Seconds, both fun geography games; and Invaders, which help students learn the origins of the names for the fifty states.

I’ve placed these links in various sections of my World History and Geography pages.
