The International Quilt Study Center & Museum really has an exceptional website.

You can explore an incredible selection of historical quilts and view a surprisingly (at least to me) engaging timeline of quilt-making. You can also choose among many recorded stories by quilt-makers.

One of the best parts of the site lets users create their own quilt. They can then email the link to a friend and/or post the link on a teacher or student website or blog.

The site is very accessible to English Language Learners. In my United States History classes, we compare Native American Buffalo Hide Paintings with Hmong Story Cloths prior to having students create their own version of a buffalo hide painting. I’m now going to start including this site in the same lesson.
