New Museum to Honor Power of a Sit-In Protest is the title of a new Voice of America Special English report that provides audio for the text. It recognizes tomorrow’s fiftieth anniversary of the Greensboro sit-ins.
I’m adding it to The Best Sites To Learn About The Greensboro Sit-Ins (It’s The Fiftieth Anniversary).
I grew up in Greensboro and was 8 when the sit in took place. My mother had worked at the Woolworth’s in her teenage years. I did not understand what was happening at that time. When I see these 4 young men now, I can only think of how brave they were and how their desire for a better tomorrow became a reality for millions. I never drive past Woolworth’s that I don’t think of them.
