Richard Byrne has done it again, finding another online tool that has a lot of potential.
Little Bird Tales lets you easily make slideshows where you can add text and, more importantly for English Language Learners, provide an audio narration. On nice touch is that you can virtually paint/draw artwork in addition to uploading images (unfortunately, the site doesn’t have the ability to grab photos off the web by url addresses). It’s free to use, but I’m unclear on if there will be an eventual cost to use the site. It appears to have an upper limit on the number of shows you can produce.
You can read more about it at Richard’s post.
Because of its unique features, I’m adding the site to three “The Best…” lists:
The Best Ways To Create Online Slideshows
Hi Mr. Ferlazzo. My name is Olivia Bush. I am an elementary major at the University of South Alabama, in Mobile Alabama. I am currently taking a course called EDM 310 by Dr. John Strange. This is a media course for education majors. Dr. Strange has linked me to read your blog.
The “Little Bird Tales” is a unique website. Thank you for sharing it with everyone. It could be a great resource tool for young children. A great way to get them to use their imagination and be creative while using modern technology. I also see it as great tool for a student with a disability.
It is amazing how far technology has come and how we can utilize it in the classroom today. I need to follow your blog in the future to find great ideas that I can use in my classroom one day. Thank you for sharing this site and I look forward to reading your blog.
Hi Larry,
Thank you for another great plug.
Richard
I played around with it and wrote about it a while back. I checked my post, and it was 90 days free trial and then $24.95/year at that stage. http://www.thebookchook.com/2009/09/tell-tale-with-little-bird-tales.html
Hi Larry,
Thanks for the write up about our web site! We intend to keep the site free but have plans to add some features we hope folks would find a reason to pay for those specific features.
We are also considering getting rid of the storage limitation.
Adding your comment about being able to pull images from the web to our To Do list.
Also, our site has No ads! Safer and easier for the kids.
