The Travel Photographer of the Year has been recognizing the best photographs from around the world for the past few years. Unfortunately, like most of the photo contest awards, they don’t display the winner very accessibly on their own website.
However, newspaper sites do a much better job displaying the winners in slideshows, so I’ve been able to collect links to some of them.
I’m also adding a link to this “The Best..” list to The Best Sites For Learning About The World’s Different Cultures.
Here are The Best Travel Photographs Of The Year:
The BBC has an audio slideshow displaying the 2010 winners.

Hi Larry, Thanks for your comments on the Travel Photographer of the Year awards and particularly the accessibility of the winning images. As the organiser of these awards I’d like to improve the viewer experience so any suggestions you have about this would be gratefully received. The website is brand new this year (only launched on 9th May) so we’re constantly adding new material and more imagery. The winners galleries have both thumbnails and a slideshow, and the BBC slideshow is linked from the home page. I agree that some pages are lacking in imagery but we’re adding this over the next few weeks. The balance I have to strike is to show what the awards are about without compromising the photographers’ images or copyright. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Chris Coe
I agree Chris, it’s good to protect photographers images. A sizeable watermark or a flash slideshow should be enough to do this?
Keep up the good work with your photography competitions.
