Obviously, photos can be great educational tools with English Language Learners and with any students (see The Best Ways To Use Photos In Lessons). I post about many photo galleries, also called slideshows. To do it in a little more organized way, though, I recently began this weekly feature called “Photo Galleries Of The Week.” This post is a “round-up” of online slideshows I’m adding to various “The Best…” lists:

San Francisco’s Coit Tower murals is a photo gallery from The Los Angeles Times. I’m adding it to The Best Sites To Learn About San Francisco (it’s not a slideshow, but I’m also adding Twenty-five free attractions in San Francisco from the BBC to the same list).

Winter Arrives is a slideshow from The Atlantic. I’m adding it to The Best Sites For Learning About The Winter Season.

National Geographic Photography Contest Winners: 2011 is from The Boston Globe.

America at Work is slideshow from The Atlantic. I’m adding it to The Best Sites To Learn About The Recession.

Urban Survivors is a very well-done interactive examining four slums around the world. I’m adding it to The Best Sites For Learning About The World’s Different Cultures.

Epiphany and Orthodox Christmas around the world is a slideshow from The Telegraph.

In pictures: Christmas in the Orthodox world is from The BBC.

I’m adding both to The Best Places To Learn About Christmas, Hanukkah, & Kwanzaa.

Trees In An Urban Jungle is a NY Times slideshow. I’m adding it to The Best Sites To Learn About Trees.

Incredible ice houses at Chinese Lantern Festival is a CBS News slideshow. I’m adding it to The Best Resources For Chinese New Year.
