Last week, I wrote about how my students were in middle of one of my favorite units — about focusing on neighborhood assets. You can read more about it there.
We’re now finishing it up, and students have developed their “ideal neighborhoods.” Here are a couple of same videos from them, along with a “bonus” musical video developed with Magisto, which I’ve also written about…
Have you seen any of the work Bernie Dodge is doing with mobile technologies? He has student-teachers facilitating similar activity only students walk their neighborhoods and collect data using mobile phones.
Zac,
Thanks. I’m not familiar with that work. I’ll try to find out more info.

Larry, quick question for you.
I really like the idea of video taping the students and posting it up on my own person website. My question is, do I need to have parental consent forms filled out in order to post the videos on my site or youtube channel?
I hope to hear back from you!
Thanks and have a great weekend!

Derek,
Yes, I’d suggest getting parent consent forms. I’ve used ones and combined them with permissions to use student work in books. You can see a couple of sample forms in my “The Best” list on student blogging.
Larry
Larry,
Thanks for the info! I’m going to search around the blog and look for the forms.
