The Obama Administration has announced that immigrants who qualify for the new Deferred Action program will not be eligible for benefits under the health care reform law.

They’re doing this despite the fact that the health care law states that coverage is to be provided to anyone “lawfully present” in the U.S.

At least California is trying to be supportive of Deferred Action participants — the legislature recently passed a law making them eligible for drivers licenses. It’s awaiting the Governor’s signature.
