The United States Department of Education announced the selection of 61 “finalists” among applications for District Race To The Top funding (only 15-25 will actually be chosen to receive the money).

Happily, here in California, neither the Fresno Unified School District, who brought unrelenting pressure on the teacher’s union local to sign-off on their application, nor the Central Unifed School District, whose local’s president signed-off on it despite having had the application rejected by her membership, made the list.
