What Undocumented Students Bring to the Classroom is the headline of an article at The Atlantic today.

Thought I frequent talk and write about the assets that English Language Learners bring to the classroom (see my ASCD Educational Leadership article “Get Organized Around Assets”), and our principal and I have written about the benefits having ELLs bring to our school (see The Positive Impact Of English Language Learners At An Urban School), I’m not entirely convinced it’s a helpful political move to put the focus on the “undocumented.”

It seems to me it might be like waving red in front of a bull, and the comments on the article seem to bear that out.

However, I’m very open to hearing other perspectives.

Nevertheless, the article makes some good points. Here’s one excerpt:
