As regular readers know, I’m a big fan of ASCD, the teacher professional development organization, and regularly post about their resources.

Here are some new ones that I think readers might find particularly useful:

* Wednesday, May 6th is ASCD’s third Whole Child Symposium. The Spring 2015 symposium will focus on the relationship between poverty and education. You can get more information about it, as well as watch the event via livestream, here.

* They also also have 3 new free webinars coming up in the next few weeks:

Harvey Silver and Tom Dewing: The Strategic Teacher: Developing Every Teacher’s Instructional Know-How, May 12, 3:00 p.m. ET

Heidi Hayes Jacobs: Connect 21 Summer Camp: Becoming a 21st Century Teacher, Leader, and School, May 13, 3:00 p.m. ET

Alisa Simeral and Pete Hall: Teach Reflect Learn: Building Your Capacity for Success in the Classroom, May 21, 3:00 p.m. ET

* The April issue of ASCD’s Educational Leadership had a short, but useful, piece on effective principal/teacher communication. I think it’s worth a look.

* This month’s issue of EL is on Teaching with Mobile Tech. It looks like it has some interesting articles (including one by me 🙂 ). However, it appears that the site is having some technical difficulties making it hard to access the individual pieces. I’ll publish a separate post about the issue after they work out the glitches, which I’m sure they’ll handle by tomorrow.
