This is happening in Indiana also. The IN Department of Education has lots of teaching positions listed and no teachers to fill them because the system is broken. The universities will continue to see lower enrollments in education majors with no hope to attract students to the profession because of stagnate pay schedules, vilification of teachers, the new teacher evaluation system tied to testing outcomes, and teacher burnout.
