The New York Times had a nice column on Social Emotional Learning this morning, Teaching Social Skills to Improve Grades and Lives.

It used the recent study I’ve written about related to the importance of social skills (see Does This Big New Study On The Importance Of Social Skills Become A New “Marshmallow Test”?), as its starting point, and then launched into a broader discussion.

The most interesting part – for me, at least – was at the end where it begins to discuss how SEL skills developed by students at schools play out in outside of school situations. I haven’t really seen that discussed anywhere else. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go anywhere with that point other than mention it and end with this quote:

Social-and-emotional

I’m adding this to The Best Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Resources.
