global

Maybe I’ve been living under a rock, but The Global Goals are new to me:

On September 25th 2015, 193 world leaders will commit to 17 Global Goals to achieve 3 extraordinary things in the next 15 years. End extreme poverty. Fight inequality & injustice. Fix climate change. The Global Goals for sustainable development could get these things done. In all countries. For all people.

And, connected to them, UNICEF and others are sponsoring The World’s Largest Lesson and suggest:

If every school in the world teaches children about these goals, we will help them become the generation that changed the world.

They’ve certainly created a lot of lesson plans and other teaching materials, including this animation written by Ken Robinson (which, to me, at least, seems a little odd):

In addition, there’s another organization called Action 2015 which appears to have a similar goal and timeline, but I’m unclear if there is a connection between them and the Global Goals.

Here’s a video they created with, of all people, the group One Direction:

I don’t see that they have any specific teaching resources, though.

Please enlighten me if you know anything about the relationship between the two groups – if there is one….
