I, and many others, always look forward to the infrequent release of an RSA Animated talk. They are visualizations of talks given by authors/writers/scientists on important topics.
You can see all of them at their YouTube Channel.
Their video of Dan Pink might be the one most familiar to educators.
They just released on of a talk by Carol Dweck, and it’s pretty impressive.
It’s embedded below, and I’m also adding it to The Best Resources On Helping Our Students Develop A Growth Mindset.
Coincidentally, What is a Growth Mindset? is the “question-of-the-week” at my Education Week Teacher column, too.
Thanks to Mindset Scholars for the tip.
Lots of great resources on mindsets as usual. I know that you are situated as an observer of the passing show on ‘how to help students learn’, but I am not seeing any mention of the small fut rising chorus of criticism about the limits and educator blind acceptance of Mindset Theory. I think that there is a place of honor for naysayers especially when it comes to educational reform, but I look on your resplendent Best Resources page and see nary a peep that this might just be turned into another learning fad like brain hemisphericity, learning styles, and so on and so on.
I do love the RSA intro here and I have created a space for anyone who wants to have a conversation about it. Here it is: https://vialogues.com/vialogues/play/26708/#external Vialogues is a free video annotation tool created at Columbia University’s EdLab. Join Vialogues and then start commenting. Then discover the cool uses for it in your own PD and classroom.
Terry, if you look at my “Best” list on the topic, as well as my new Ed Week post on it, you’ll see a number of criticisms I’ve written about growth mindsets.
Guess I missed it, Larry. I will take a look at the “Best” again and your new post. Thanks. And, as always, thanks for all your fine works.
