On the same day this week, the results of two big studies were announced – with opposing conclusions in the headlines. One said laptops helped learning and the other said it hurt. If you read the articles, though, you can see that they both researched very different practices. The positive results were found in what seemed to be well-organized one-to-one K-12 environments, and the negative findings came in college classes where students were allowed to use laptops on their own in an unsupervised manner:
