Next February, this blog will be celebrating its ten-year anniversary! Leading up to it, I’m re-starting a series I tried to do in the past called “A Look Back.” Each week, I’ll be re-posting a few of my favorite posts from the past ten years.

In 2009, I posted The Best Sites To Learn About Walls That Separate Us, which I have been adding to and updating since – in fact, I completely revised it earlier this month.

Here’s how I introduced it:

I’ve begun to think about developing some lessons related to walls — physical, mental, and emotional — and how they’re used by us and others to stay separate. I’m thinking it’s also an opportunity to help students learn about metaphors and similes.

I invited readers of that “Best” list to share potential lesson ideas – you may want to check out the comments section there to see some good ones.

In light of Donald Trump’s “great wall” and his speech tonight in Arizona, it’s safe to say there is a great deal of interest in this topic among many students.  Please share your thoughts on a classroom approach in the comments in that “Best” list or here.
