Sacramento is usually referred to as the U.S. city – after New Orleans – most likely to suffer disastrous flooding.

After this week, Houston has probably moved ahead of us. However, the Sacramento Bee reminds us of the danger in today’s article, Think Harvey-like flooding couldn’t happen to Sacramento? Think again.

In fact, there has been so much local and national attention to our likely fate that I have previously posted The Best Sites For Showing Sacramento Destroyed By Floods.  We sometimes use it as part of our ninth-grade English unit on Natural Disasters.  I tell ya’, there’s nothing that wakes up students to potential flooding danger than having them look at flood maps and then design an escape route for their families.
