Thanks to Matt Barnum at Chalkbeat, I was reminded that this is the eight-year anniversary of the shameful and irresponsible decision by The L.A. Times to publish supposed teacher ratings from the L.A. Unified School District.

Matt’s article about recent studies investigating the aftermath of that decision is worth reading, but it’s also important to keep in mind that some of those studies are based on the same faulty confidence in the value added method of teacher evaluation.
