The idea is that students create ninety-second videos retelling the stories of books that have won the Newbery Award, which is given for exceptional children’s literature.

It’s a great idea and, whether or not students are preparing them for submission to the Festival, you can use it for an activity at any time. The site has a “how-to” guide and a collection of what they consider to have been their best submissions over the year. They are great models!
