The Elk Grove Unified School District, the largest school district in Northern California and one that is immediately adjacent to ours, just announced they are closing all schools down next week (see Elk Grove Unified, largest district in N. California, cancels all classes over coronavirus from the Sacramento Bee).

Listen, I get that it’s a crazy, uncertain time. And that school districts have lots of moving parts.

But I just don’t understand why, at this point in Coronavirus epidemic, any school district has not developed an online teaching and learning plan (see The Best Advice On Teaching K-12 Online (If We Have To Because Of The Coronavirus) – Please Make More Suggestions!).

I’ve discussed plans in detail with all of my classes, but there hasn’t been a word from our district about contingency plans.

Is your district prepared?
